WikiScope: A Beneficial Resource?

In an effort to make WebiScope an even larger resource for our members, I’ve proposed the idea that we create our own wiki. This would serve as a collection of healthcare-related Web topics ranging from blogs to RFPs, and also include blog-related posts, contact information, and examples from our very own Web sites.

This Message Will Self-Destruct in Five Seconds….

This originally was not the first post I was going to write on Webiscope. My first post was going to be something exciting about integrating SEO, Advertising, PR and marketing campaigns to drive traffic to a site and increase customer conversion. Very interesting stuff, I thought.

So last week, as I was scribbling out some thoughts around that first post, I received word that one of our sites had been compromised by a hacker. Suddenly that topic I was originally writing about didn’t seem so interesting. Because of course, if you don’t have a functioning website to drive traffic to, it doesn’t really matter what kind of exciting campaign you are implementing.

Us vs. Them (or, “can’t we all just get along?”)

That title isn’t wordplay on “clients vs. servers”, “managers vs. staff” or even “IE vs. FireFox”. It’s a nod to a divergence in the web arena between the IS/IT and Marketing/Communications staff. Obviously, not every situation is like this – nor is this phenomenon strictly confined to healthcare. I merely point it out because the ultimate end-product of this gap (in our industry) can result in poor productivity and worse – poor or “non-optimal” service to the people who really need it: our employees, physicians and patients.
