Frequently Asked Questions

What is WebiScope.com?

WebiScope.com has two parts, each meant for healthcare web professionals:

  • An online forum
  • A blog

It’s designed to facilitate dialogue among colleagues—web developers, administrators, managers— facing the same issues. Share best practices, technical knowledge, management policies— knowledge to help others efficiently manage and grow their healthcare sites.

Why did the Healthcare Web Developers’ Listserv (HCwebD) become WebiScope.com?

The listserv format proved cumbersome and messages often contained garbled code making them hard to read. In addition, messages were routinely caught in spam filters. With WebiScope, both the blog and forum have a permanent home online with easy-to-read messages and an archive of postings. And, now you can set up RSS feeds and e-mail alerts.

Who is responsible for WebiScope.com?

WebiScope.com is a led by Aaron Holbrook. It is an independent venture and is not affiliated with any vendor or organization.

How do I register?

To participate in the forum discussions, you must register and list your healthcare affiliation. We only need to know three things: your desired username (what you want to people to know you by), a valid e-mail associated with your healthcare system (to ensure you’re really you), and the healthcare system you’re affiliated with. After an administrator approves your registration you will receive an email with a temporary password. You will then have full access to the blog as well as the forums.

What is the WebiScope.com Blog?

Simply put, the forum is for questions whereas the blog offers a way to “philosophize” on a topic so others can learn, challenge, question, etc. It may pose a question, but it’s one that requires some thought. Blog entries, which comprise the homepage, are open for all to read and make comments without registering.

What is the WebiScope.com Forum?

The forum is the secure area of WebiScope where members can pose questions to colleagues from diverse healthcare entities across the US and Canada. Share ideas, best practices, vendor experiences, etc. The forum is secure and requires registration from those affiliated with a healthcare entity.
